Boise River BioRegion
The Boise River Bioregion is an essential waterway flowing from the Sawtooth Mountains through Idaho’s capital city and into the Snake River. The river provides irrigation for farms, drinking water for communities, and green spaces for urban residents.
The Boise Greenbelt, a network of parks and trails, highlights the river’s role in connecting natural and human systems.
Historically, the river played a central role in Indigenous cultures and early settlement. Restoration projects now aim to enhance water quality, flood management, and riparian habitats to ensure the river’s vitality for future generations.
